ChristianWorks Hits the Big Leagues!

23 Dec, 2011

by ChristianWorks

ChristianWorks received a very touching gift last week….the “official” agreement announcing a partnership with C.J. Wilson’s Children’s Charities for the next five years.  C.J. Wilson’s organization funds programs that enhance the emotional and educational growth of children and young people and afford them opportunities and assistance to help address and overcome the obstacles they face.

What a blessing this process has been for us!  We didn’t just submit an application.  For the past year, we have become endeared to the President of this wonderful charity, Robert Champagne, who is passionate about his work, and became passionate about the work of ChristianWorks for Children.  He took the time to come to our offices several times, participated in our recent auction, and most importantly, listened to the stories and heard the voices of each child behind them … and shared them with C.J. Wilson, formerly our favorite Texas Ranger, and now Los Angeles Angel.

C.J. Wilson’s commitment is to provide funding so that additional children will be able to attend CampErin– Dallas/ Fort Worthover the next five years.  In partnership with The Moyer Foundation, CampErinis a weekend bereavement camp to children ages 6 to 17, and is conducted by ChristianWorks staff and volunteers each year.

C.J. and Robert understand that often times, children do not have an avenue to express their grief or to honor and remember the person who died.  They understand that being a grieving child can be a lonely experience.  They understandCampErinis an opportunity to change a life.  It provides a safe, caring environment to help campers build trust, self-esteem and coping skills.

In this Christmas season where most of us will be lavished with God’s richest blessings, we are humbled and deeply grateful for the hearts of Jaime and Karen Moyer, and now C.J. Wilson, and what they will mean to many children who will attendCampErin.
