Why choose AdoptionWorks for help?
We care about you.
AdoptionWorks values counseling and wants to invest in your emotional health throughout your pregnancy. We understand choosing adoption is one of the most difficult decisions a person can make. We want to provide you with information that will help you make an educated decision about what’s best for you and your family.
We are a Christ-centered agency.
The mission of AdoptionWorks is to place children with loving and supportive Christian families. All of our adoptive families are actively involved in their church community.
For over forty-five years, we have served children and their families.
Since opening our agency in 1967, we have placed over 800 children into loving adoptive and foster families.
What is the difference between private and agency adoption?
There are two options for pregnant mothers who are considering adoption. Private adoptions are typically handled through an adoption attorney. By deciding to proceed with private adoption, birthparents might not receive the emotional guidance and comfort they would receive through an agency. AdoptionWorks will ensure the birthparents and adoptive family receive counseling and emotional support both leading up to and after the adoption plan is made.
Agencies like AdoptionWorks are required to follow the state’s regulations and guidelines. We ensure our clients receive the care that will serve the birthparents, the adopted child and the adoptive family’s best interests.
Does AdoptionWorks offer any financial assistance?
AdoptionWorks may help with expenses directly related to your pregnancy. Other options and resources for financial assistance will be explored first.
Will I get to pick my adoptive family?
Yes. You will have the opportunity to choose the family who will adopt your child. Your caseworker will help you explore your options and will discuss your desires for an adoptive family.
How much control do I have in the adoption process?
You will have control over decisions made throughout the adoption process. We will provide you with information regarding adoptive families in our network and assist in your hospital plans. You will also be able to choose what type of contact you would like to have with the adoptive family.
Should I tell the father about my adoption plan?
If you are considering adoption, we encourage you to communicate your desire to choose adoption with the biological father. Legally, communicating with the father is in the best interests of all parties, since he will have some legal rights. Whether or not he is supportive of your decision, it always helps to know where he stands.
Do I have to tell my parents that I am pregnant and want to place my baby for adoption?
We understand it might be difficult to share your pregnancy and adoption plan with your parents. Regardless of your age, you have the legal right to choose adoption for your child. AdoptionWorks is here to help you through the emotional difficulties that pregnancy and adoption can present. We will be happy to help you find a way to share this news with your parents. We have found that the support of family is a valuable component in the adoption process.
